Breakout Management in association with Kaya FM Dance Ritual, Castle Milk Stout and Castle Milk Stout Chocolate Infused is proud to announce the launch of the very first Jozi Summer Shine Festival to take place on Sunday, 13 December at Marks Park in Johannesburg.
This exciting Afropolitan one-day event brings you the finest in top-end whiskey and wine, street-food vendors, 3 internationals and 4 local musical acts, 2 stages, the beautiful Johannesburg summertime atmosphere and gorgeous green surrounds. Jozi Summer Shine joins forces with Kaya FM’s Dance Ritual to bring you the ultimate musical experience and summer party that Johannesburg has to offer.
First on the list of announcements is the exceptional international R&B legend Musiq Soulchild. This multi award winning performer has had 2 platinum albums, 2 gold albums and has received awards from top industry establishments such as Billboard and BET and has earned nominations from MTV and 11 Grammy nominations. This performance is one of the most anticipated international live acts of 2015.
Another international act to grace the stage for the day is the confident household name to the dance music industry, Louie Vega. With a career in House Music ranging over 25 years, Vega is the perfect fit for this festival line up – bringing his Latin House influences to South African fans.
Greg Maloka, Kaya FM Managing Director spoke on the merger of the Kaya FM Dance Ritual to the Jozi Summer Shine music experience “the decision to merge is to share Dance Ritual with a larger music audience. Our recent award as Dance Nation of the World at the prestigious 2015 DJ Awards in Ibiza, was a clear indicator that Dance Ritual is more than an event but a cultural movement and Jozi Summershine provides the platform”.
Next on the bill is the remarkably distinguished Tortured Soul, whose sound has been classified as Electronica, Jazz Fusion, New York House and Classic Disco. No stranger to South African shores, these guys have played some of the world’s best music festivals all over the world and have shared a stage with world renowned DJs and artists such as Carl Cox, Jazzanova and Chaka Kahn.
To add the local flavour to the essence of the festival, we have South Africa’s favourite A Capella group The Soil, Durban-boy Majozi and funky neo-soul rising star Tresor who will be bringing their zest to the day’s activities. Keep your eyes open for the fourth local act to be announced at a later date.
“We are extremely excited to announce this fantastic festival, but especially so to fulfill our promise to the Musiq Soulchild fans who didn’t get to see him earlier this year”, says Breakout Management’s Kevin Stuart. “To have three internationals and four local bands of such major stature perform on the same day brings us great excitement and we look forward to sharing the day with the fans and all that we have planned.”
Jozi Summer Shine is not only about the music. The festival offers fans the opportunity to experience quality food by high-end food crafters – making food for the love of it with a personal touch; Micro distilleries and well known wine estates will be on display to taste and purchase, as well as some of the industry’s top end whiskeys.
